Text to Sail

A text-message list that helps Port Townsend small-boat sailors get on the water together. A sailor texts when they're heading out; subscribers get one short text and can reply to join.

How it works

1. Subscribe

Text the number above. Any message starts signup (SAIL is easy to remember). You'll be asked for a display name and then get a confirmation text. You can also sign up through the club's Discord channel.

2. Hear about sails

When a subscriber posts an outing ("going out 5:30 tomorrow, room for 1"), everyone else gets one text with the time, place, open spots and the wind and tide forecast.

3. Reply to join

Reply with the code in the text (for example J1) to join. You'll only hear more about that sail if it changes or is cancelled.

What you'll receive

New sail announcements: at most 2 per day, never between 9pm and 7am. Late-night posts wait until morning.
Updates for sails you've joined: time changes, cancellations and who else is going.
Replies to your own texts, like confirmations and the list of upcoming sails.

We never send advertising or marketing, and we never text people who haven't subscribed.

Commands

Text	What it does
`STOP`	Unsubscribe from all messages. You'll get one confirmation and nothing after that.
`START`	Re-subscribe after STOP.
`HELP`	List of commands and how to reach us.
`PAUSE` / `PAUSE 1w` / `RESUME`	Snooze new-sail texts (updates for sails you joined still arrive).
`LIST`	See upcoming sails and who's going.
`J1` / `L1`	Join or leave sail number 1.

Who runs this
